Introduction Page

Downtown Baton Rouge is currently undergoing a major revitalization effort. Several new buildings have been constructed like the Shaw Center, while other older structures like the Capitol Hotel on Lafayette Street are getting a makeover and are being restored to their Art Deco past. Also, newly constructed parking garages can accommodate much larger numbers of people than ever before. With these new and updated buildings the downtown area is getting a much needed facelift, but there is still plenty work to do to get more people to come back to this once thriving area. Introducing a single screen movie theater back to the downtown area could help the night life thrive.

Dinner and a movie is a classic phrase. Why not have a restaurant and theater all in one building? No hurrying, trying to go from one place to another, would save time and frustration. How about a small intimate and friendly atmosphere? A single screen dinner theater is what I propose to design.

Logo Design Part 2

After much debating I have finally decided on a logo. And the winner is.........................

I decided to go with this logo because it most clearly stated my design concept and inspiration for my project. The Grant Building was built in the 1920s and I wanted to try to incorporate the time period and the style of my dinner theater into the logo. The fancy "G" illustrates a very elegant atmosphere. The rest of the logo is in plain text that will help to incorporate the art deco area. The logo embodies the characteristics of design elements that I want the dinner theater and bar to incoporate: simplicity & eleganance.

Logo Design

I am still working on the logo for my project, but these are some of the ones I have created so far.

Logo Research

The first assignment for the semester is to delevope a logo for my project. These are some of the logos I found that I liked.

Banana Republic’s logo is very simplistic and elegant in its design. The font represents the classic styles of the company’s produts. The logo is very clearly stated by keeping the font simple and all in caps and with using only two colors: black and white.

Ebay’s logo is very dynamic with its four font styles and color choices. The uppercase and lowercase letters help express the companies diversity. Thedifferent colors and fonts showcase the variety in Ebay’s products and users.

P.F. Chang’s logo is very symetrical. The font choices express the company’strademarks to be fresh and contemporary in style. The two choices in color help the logo not be too busy but to still catch the viewer’s eye. The straight line dividing the company name and the cuisine style helps the viewer easilyidentifiy the company’s brand and the type of dinning service the restaurant caters to.

Spring Time

So, its that time of the year again, when school starts back up again. Students fill the halls and classrooms. Bookstores flurishing in sales, and here I am at my computer again ready to talk about all the wonderful things that will happen over the next few months. For starters I will be continuing the work on my senior capstone project! After some thought I believe I will be directing my movie theater to more of a dinner theater. I am still working out some of the kinks with the shape of the building, but hopefully in time it will all work out.
